Lisa Borton headshotLisa Borton is a Michigan-based theatrical designer who specializes in both costume and scenic design. Favorite designs include: The Liar, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Lend Me a Tenor. Professional theatre design work includes The Tipping Point Theatre, Midland Center for the Arts, Hope Summer Repertory Theatre, and the former Flint Youth Theatre. She has worked as a professional scenic artist at The Cleveland Play House, as the charge artist at The Great River Shakespeare Festival, and as a props painter at the Santa Fe Opera. Lisa holds an MFA from the University of Iowa and a BA from Hope College and has been a resident designer and Lecturer at the University of Michigan-Flint since 2012. Currently, she is also the visiting professor of costume design at Grand Valley State University. She has served as a co-commissioner for the Scene Design Commission for the United States Institute for Theatre Technology since 2022.
