Cathy Shakespeare

Cathy Shakespeare is an Associate Professor of Accounting and Faculty Director of the Masters of Accounting Program at Michigan Ross. She has a BA in Accounting and Finance from Dublin City University, a PhD in Accounting from the University of Illinois Champaign Urbana, and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland. Her research focuses predominately on the area of financial instruments, asset securitizations, and fair value accounting. Her research has been published in leading academic journals, including the Review of Accounting Studies, the Accounting Review and the Journal of Accounting and Economics. In addition to reviewing on an ad hoc basis for numerous leading academic journals, she serves on the editorial board of the Accounting Review and as an editor for the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting. She is a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council whose function is to advise the Financial Accounting Standards Board on issues and priorities. She teaches courses in corporate financial reporting and the public policy implications of accounting at the undergraduate and graduate level.
