Investing in new employee orientation is a no-brainer for most organizations. A thoughtful beginning sets up a new team member for success and an intentionally positive and well-planned onboarding experience welcomes them to the workplace community and orients them toward making a contribution to work and culture.
Few organizations, however, invest as much thought or energy into endings. An employee’s experience leaving an organization has just as much, if not more, impact on an organization. Transitions out of an organization are an amazing opportunity to enliven the culture – to enable a sense of meaning, support, connection, and humanness, and to foster agency in the face of challenge. This talk will share how, when entered into with this intention and lived through in line with your values, endings can be profound experiences with lasting impact.
